Cyproterone Acetate

Cyproterone acetate is a progestin with potent anti-androgenic properties that works by both blocking androgen receptors and reducing androgen production, commonly prescribed outside the United States (particularly in Europe and Australia) for managing hirsutism, acne, and hair loss in women with PCOS. Often combined with ethinyl estradiol in a combined oral contraceptive formulation, cyproterone acetate provides dual benefit of cycle regulation and androgen suppression. While highly effective for androgen-related symptoms, it is not available in the U.S. market, where spironolactone serves as the primary anti-androgen alternative.
