Ovulation Induction
Ovulation induction is a fertility treatment approach that uses medications to stimulate the ovaries to develop and release mature eggs in women who are not ovulating regularly, which is the primary fertility challenge in PCOS. The typical sequence begins with letrozole (first-line) or clomiphene, potentially escalating to gonadotropin injections if oral medications are unsuccessful, with each cycle monitored through ultrasound and bloodwork to track follicle development. For many women with PCOS, ovulation induction is highly effective and is often the first fertility intervention attempted before considering more advanced treatments like IUI or IVF.
